2011 Nissan Teana

Edaran Tan Chong Motor has launched the Nissan Teana, a large D-segment sedan introduced to take on the likes of Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Four variants are available for selection: the locally-assembled 2.0 Comfort at RM 138,000, the locally-assembled 2.0 Luxury at RM 142,000, the locally-assembled 2.5 V6 Premium at RM 168,000 and the fully-imported 3.5 V6 Exquisite at RM 248,500; prices are on-the-road with insurance.

The base 2.0-litre variants use the MR20DE engine, which produces 136 hp at 5600 rpm and 190 Nm at 4400 rpm, paired to Nissan’s Xtronic CVT. The mid-range 2.5-litre V6 variant is equipped with the same transmission and the VQ25DE engine, which generates 182 hp at 6000 rpm and 228 Nm at 4400 rpm. The range-topping 3.5-litre V6 variant draws motivation from the VQ35DE engine with 252 hp at 6000 rpm and 326 Nm at 4400 rpm. Mated to that engine is the Xtronic CVT with a manual mode of six virtual ratios.

Power goes to the front wheels of Nissan’s D-Platform, on which the Nissan Murano is also based. The suspension configuration consists of MacPherson strut at the front and multi-link at the rear. The front/rear brakes are ventilated discs and solid discs, respectively. The steering system is hydraulically set up.

The 2.0 Comfort has as standard 16" alloys, automatic headlamps, power foldable/adjustable side mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, push button ignition, 6-speaker audio system with 6-disc CD changer and MP3-compatibility. Safety equipments include dual front SRS airbags, braking controls (ABS + EBD + BA), front active head restraints and front seatbelt pretensioners. The 2.0 Luxury adds on leather upholstery, front parking sensors and V-Kool tinting.

The 2.5 V6 Premium extends the equipment list even further, adding on auto-leveling xenon headlamps, cruise control, keyless entry and start, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 4-way power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, steering wheel audio controls, side airbags, traction control and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) stability control. The 3.5 V6 Exquisite is the sole variant to get 17" alloys, panoramic sunroof, ventilated leather seats, Ottoman front passenger’s seat and curtain airbags.
